About

100 dates

100 dates is a crowdsourced dating experiment, which is using online social networks to try to find 10 dates for 10 people. Unlike other online dating sites, 100 dates relies purely on recommendations to match people up. Everyone who goes on a date through 100 dates was recommended by a friend. So really, 100 dates could just as easily be called “Date my friend”!

100 dates started out as a personal dating experiment, in which I set out to go on dates with 100 people who were recommended to me by people in my online social network. But… I found a boyfriend, so I decided to change 100 dates into a project to find dates for other people. I thought it would be a nice way to still achieve the 100 dates target, with the added benefit of sharing the love with other people!

You can read the introduction to 100 dates here. You’re more than welcome to visit and enjoy. Or if you have a spiffy single friend who you’d like to recommend for a date, why not put them forward? 100 dates can only work if enough people are interested in putting forward their friends for a date, so please feel very encouraged to do so. Just think of the karma you’ll earn for making a small effort to make your friend happy. :)

About Sarah Stokely:

I’m Sarah! I live in Melbourne, and I’ve worked in online media for A Long Time. I teach web publishing and I do community management for Australia’s biggest blog network. I first started 100 dates to try to find myself a boyfriend. But… after just 5 dates, I started seeing someone and didn’t think it was fair on anyone to keep meeting people through 100 dates. So now I’m just the matchmaker behind the new phase of 100 dates, which is finding 10 dates for 10 different people.
